Day 46 - A FAB Friday Fitness Tip - Didja Miss Me?

In the interest of keeping this real (as if I don't, already...) I must confess that I wrote MOST of this out on Wednesday morning. No need for you to know that...I'm just sayin'...

But it IS Friday and you DO know what THAT means, right?

It's time for another wonderfully helpful and totally motivational tip from our friend, Barb.

YAY!

Today's Friday Fitness Tip?

Buy Locally When Possible

Have you been to the local farmer's market lately?  When possible, buy your fruits, vegetables and meats locally.  Buying locally means that you are receiving the freshest products available.  Locally grown fruits and vegetables are more apt to contain a lot more flavor.  Because of the restrictions regarding the use of pesticides, locally grown fruits and vegetables will be free of pesticides.  Buy your honey locally as well.  Local honey can help reduce allergies.  You're also purchasing pure honey.  As honey gets shipped from one country to another, sometimes sugar water is added to the honey.  It is labeled as pure honey, but in reality it isn't.

~~~~~~~~
Oh, I LOVE this one. Barb encourages us to BUY LOCAL. I am so excited about this tip because one of the first things I get to do on Saturday morning (after a week of busting my tail to get us moved) is walk to one of our (many many) farmer's markets, located in the park near our new abode.
Mags will have a guest that morning and so we are all going to travel down to see what's being offered. I love fresh fruits and veggies; as well as feeling good that we are giving back to our local community.
A WIN-WIN for everyone, YAY!
So keep in mind, as you are journeying toward better health - you are doing yourself, your family, and many families in your community a great favor when you buy locally grown foods.
YUM!
Weighing In:
I also want to include a quick note about weighing in. Barb has been so very gracious in keeping track of everyone's stats, etc. Please remember to weigh in on Saturday (or Sunday, as she's been kind enough to give us the whole weekend to do so) and SEND YOUR WEIGHT to her.
We are on a mission to lose 1000 pounds as a group and this only works when all in the group are participating as promised.
It's an accountability thing for sure and if this offends you - and you've been lazy about reporting in - GOOD. I'm here to kick your butt and I expect the same from you if I slack off. Just do us all a favor and send your numbers to Barb when requested.
On that note, I do want to share that we (as a group) have lost 222 pounds. WOW! Keep up the good work and know that you are doing this for YOU, but also that you are part of something that is bigger than you...at the same time, shrinking, too - How darn FABULOUS is THAT?
Alrighty...
That's enough, blah, blah, and yadda, yadda for today, dontcha think?
Till next time!
**You will notice a gain down below. I'm thinking it's because of the early morning wake-ups and the lack of proper eating habits over the last 3 days. I'm not eating crap, actually...I'm not eating enough, and I've been working like crazy on this move...Can't wait to sleep past 3AM and see what a good friend my scale is then**
Starting Weight: 306.4
Goal Weight: 150
Today's Weight: 283.4
Total Lost to Date: 23
Early Mornings...Ugh!
I am a work in progress, always. Sometimes I stumble, but I always get back up. The hard part is knowing which direction to turn. If I go THAT way, I know I will fail. This time, I'm going THIS way. It's a new direction for me and I will NOT fail. Cheers!
