Yesterday I wrote about setting goals - if you didn't see it, why NOT???
Oops, I forget that not EVERYONE is reading my diary...yet.
So, if you didn't see it, pop right over here and check it out. Then scootch back to this post and read on...
Now that you've got your goals written down, you've got a great start to your weight loss success. One of the best ways to stay focused on reaching each goal is to remember that you will reward yourself once you get there.
YAY.
Presents. Fun. Happiness.
REWARDS.
But whoa, slow down. We've got to talk about the KINDS of rewards you will give yourself for reaching a goal.
If you are anything like me (and you aren't reading my diary JUST to be nosy, right?? You DO see yourself a tiny bit in me, dontcha?)...so if you can relate, then this might sound familiar:
My number ONE way to reward myself with a job (whatever it might be) well done?
FOOD.
Yep, so many, many, many...too many times to count...I have rewarded myself with food.
I lost 10 pounds - let's EAT!
I got a raise - let's EAT!
I didn't have 2 rolls with dinner (this is two-fold) - let's eat that snickers for dessert!
I found my birth family - let's eat (Italians can COOK, just sayin')
WHATever your reasons, if you are even a tad bit like me, you tend to honor the ups (and downs) in your life, with food.
Well, not anymore, people.
Put the brakes on that crazy train because I'm here to tell you that you cannot continue to reward good behavior with bad behavior if you want to reach your weight loss goal(s).
Okay?
Okay.
So, now what?
You still need rewards - and you are going to get them.
ANYthing you want - besides food (we are learning a valuable lesson here, to be shared in a later post!).
So, set your goals; and then pick your rewards to go with them. Again, planning is everything. I currently have 9 goals on paper.
Here are my 9 rewards (in no particular order):
Buy gel inserts for my workout shoes
Buy a workout compression suit
Buy a night compression suit
Buy new workout gear (don't spend gobs of money on clothes yet, you are shrinking, remember?)
Buy 2 new outfits
Take my daughter to the park and PLAY with her
Get a mani/pedi
Have a spa day with your bestie
Buy a whole new wardrobe (donate your BIG GIRL/GUY clothes to a worthwhile charity first)
There you have it, you have your goals, you have your rewards, and you are well on your way to succeeding in your weight loss!
Remember, whatever your goal, large or small, it's important to spoil/reward yourself for a job well done.
Today, I'm taking a fabulously relaxing soak in my whirlpool tub. I've checked every item off my to-do list and I've earned that soak - which is also benefiting my weight loss and I do love a two-fer; more on that in a later post (yes, I have LOTS to share).
Till next time!

Day 4 - Oh Happy Day - My Scale Loves Me
Sometimes...oh, I'd say most of the time, my scale and I do NOT get along.
It's mostly my fault; though, I'm not taking all the blame. That thing I step on daily (for the next little while) is a fickle fellow.
But today, my scale and I are getting along like two peas in a pod, like Fred and Ethel wished they could, like chocolate and peanut butter (of which I have not indulged OR missed in 4 whole days!).
In celebration of this happy occasion, I give you this:
...because it is exactly what rolled through my mind when I saw that number.
OH HAPPY DAY!
So what's that number? (I'm sure you are asking, exasperated and wishing I'd get to the point...)
Okay, okay, alright, already.
1.4
Yep. I lost 1.4 pounds yesterday, which brings me to a total of 3.8 pounds down at the start of day four and I am now 21.2 pounds away from reaching my first goal.
WooHOO!
I have to say, I like that MyFitnessPal rounds up, lol. Just sayin'...
Oh, and ABOUT that - My Fitness Pal is a GREAT way to keep track of your daily food, exercise, water, and other notes you want to jot down. If you haven't checked it out, go right here and do so. If you have an (oh SO) fabUlous blog like this one, you can even snatch a widget that shows your progress right on your blog (see upper right hand corner for mine).
I'll be talking more about My Fitness Pal as we go but for now I'll just say thanks. I'm having a wicked good time filling in my stats each day and it is SERIOUSLY helping me stay accountable for what I deem worth to grace my lips!
Now I know, the scale isn't always going to go MY way - down, down, down. And weighing myself daily is actually not the best way to do things, psychologically. But I told you, it's what I'm doing for the next couple of weeks. We'll revisit THAT later!
For now?
I'm off to the gym and then I've got a BUNCH of other stuff to do today. BzzzzzY!
Hope you all have a FANTABULISTIC day and please do keep on keepin' on.
Till next time!

Day 3 cont'd - Setting Goals
Okay, now that I'm over this morning's issues, NOW I'm ready to talk about setting goals - a so very seriously important step in YOUR weight loss success!
Why?
Oh, because I said so.
Are you buying that?
Because I've got some cheap waterfront in Arizona that I'd love to...
Aww, heck, sometimes I get distracted.
So..WHY is setting yourself goals so very important?
Simple. Unless you plan to succeed, you are planning to fail. And by writing down your goals throughout this weight loss process, you are putting to paper the steps you want - need - hope - to succeed.
Paper, computer, phone...heck, tattoo them on your arm for all I care - but DO set your goals.
Today!
Now, I happen to know from personal experience - wherein I've failed more than once - that you can't set such a large goal that you don't even believe yourself that you will reach it.
I've said this: I want to lose 150 pounds - somewhere like 888 times (or so).
Great goal, right?
HUGE goal.
Right.
So what I recommend is setting your goals in ways that you (in your heart of hearts) know you will reach. You must believe in them before you can attain them.
As my wonderful friend, Barb says: Believe, Begin, Become!
What are MY Goals?
Main Goal - Lose 150 Pounds (yes, I still have that goal, but first...)
Goal #1 - Lose 25 Pounds
Goal #2 - Lose 25 Pounds
Goal #3 - Lose 25 Pounds
Goal #4 - Become certified as a Life Coach (something I've done for more than 15 years, but not cert.)
Goal #5 - Lose 25 Pounds
Goal #6 - Become certified as a Personal Trainer
Goal #7 - Lose 25 Pounds
Goal #8 - Lose 25 Pounds
By the time I reach my ideal weight goal (and this may not be a total of 150 pounds; I want to be healthy, not emaciated) I will be a certified Life Coach and Personal Trainer; thus turning my dreams of saving the world - one amazing person at a time - into reality.
****Repeat the above, often, to ensure success toward main goal****
Keep in mind, as you go through this life changing process, that you may change or add to your goals. Good for you, because by then you will know you can DO this!
Bottom Line?
You need goals, you need to write them down, you need to stay focused on the little goals to get to the main goal.
Make sense?
Good. Because for as much as I want - need - hope - to reach MY goals, I am also - most certainly - going to be cheering you on toward yours!
Now...what are YOUR goals?
Till next time!

Day 3 - Sideswiped by Disappointment This Morning
Today I wanted to talk about setting goals; we'll get to that in just a minute...or two...
Well...
I woke up today knowing that I hadn't lost anything.
Yes, before I dared to put a toe on the scale I could feel that I hadn't lost, not a pound, not even an ounce.
How can I know that? ...you ask.
Listen here:
I've been overweight (I wanted to say fat but I'm working on - eliminating - self-disparagement) for most of my adult life. I KNOW my body - heck, most of the time I'm the one not taking care of it.
So with serious trepidation I tiptoed down the stairs and dared to disappoint myself.
I was right.
Not a darn thing. The scale hadn't moved.
Maybe it's broken?
I'd certainly be worn out if I was getting stepped on by a 300 pound girl almost daily.
But alas, I'm sure the scale is correct.
Bright side (I'm TRYING here, people):
I didn't gain.
Not a pound, not even an ounce.
Good for me...blah blah blah.
I will say it's good in that I'm not giving up today. I'm eating my eggs and bacon, I'm writing in my diary, I'm keeping my appointment with my trainer...
Good for me.
Because I have goals.
So let's talk about that - setting goals.
Later...
No, I mean it, later today I'll write again. Right now I don't have it in me to share the importance of setting goals.
No one asked for the truth, but I'm giving it anyway.
Till next time!

Day 2 of the Rest of My Life...
Okay, so I woke up today...
Hungry.
THAT'S a good sign; it means I ate less yesterday and my body was ready for some FOOD!
Nervous.
I was afraid to step on the scale - yes, day 2 and I already ASS u ME that I was failing - ugh. And I know, it's not good to weigh yourself everyday but I'm going to until I feel good about the direction I'm headed. Give me two weeks of that and we'll see where I'm at.
Ready.
To start this day 2. I don't know if I am just telling myself that I feel like it's going to happen this time or if I REALLY mean it. So far, I'm ready.
And THEN...
I weighed in.
WooHoo!
Down 2.4 pounds! Boy, does that feel good.
SHHHHSHSHSHSHHSHHH!
We don't want to jinx it. Seriously.
When I told Gary that I'd lost 2.4 pounds, I acted totally cool about it, blase', not a big deal, pfft, I can do this blindfolded, right?
As if!
I'm stoked.
So I grabbed a couple hard-boiled eggs and 4 slices of bacon (yes, I'm low-carbing to start, simply because I like it; which doesn't mean I won't throw some fruit and gluten-free pasta in there somewhere along the weigh (HAHA, I made a funny!)...
And went to input my data at MyFitnessPal. Boy, oh BOY, does that number look good. And I am loving the ease of myfitnesspal.com too - I'm sure I'll be sharing more about that...
Now I'm here, updating my diary and preparing for the day.
I have a session with my trainer at Anytime Fitness and then it's research, reading, more research, and building a business plan (shhhssshh, that part's a secret for now!).
Till next time!

Dear Diary, I'm Fat...Now What?
OMG, I'm fat. Yes, I said it.
FAT.
That three letter word that no one likes to say - unless you are...actually fat.
Okay, we don't LIKE to say it, but (and I'm not speaking for anyone else HERE) it's the truth.
I am fat.
Now what???????
Today's entry in this new - going to be OH SO FabUlous - blog marks the fifth or 100th time I've begun something (like a blog) with a goal in mind.
Today's entry also marks the beginning of the rest of my life.
So yep...
Dear Diary,
I'm Fat...now what?
Today I woke up wishing myself a big FAT Happy Birthday!
I began research on a wonderful idea, born from my trip to Philly to try out for NBC's Biggest Loser (more on that when I'm darn good and ready to share, I said).
I also went to the gym to WORK OUT (not just hit the tanning bed, wooHOO). And met with my friend Darcelle - an amazing trainer who is going to spend the next few months HARD kickin' my tail into shape...reprogramming anyone?
I spent some time at the grocery store too; stocking up on some yummy (and healthy) treats for our family.
Tonight's feast?
Grilled Tuna with Roasted Reds and Sweet Potatoes. YUM!
It's going to look something like this:

The above is actually Tilapia but fish is fish is FISH in this case :) YUM!
That's pretty much it for today.
Oh, did you think this blog was going to be (oh so) fabUlous? Hmmm...someone mentioned that SOMEwhere...
It might be. I can't know for sure till we get going...
For now?
Consider it an honest glimpse into my diary.
Till next time!
